Bob Meltzer is an innovative business leader with deep experience in launching high-growth start-ups, e-commerce businesses, law firms, legal departments, and law practices. Bob has years of experience in people management having hired and developed hundreds of direct-report employees. Bob’s first law job was with the World Health Organization (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland concentrating on public international law, international contracts, and international copyright. Upon returning to the states, he grew his law practice, then merged into one of the larger, older Chicago law firms, and developed their immigration law practice group.

Next, Bob became an early innovator in legal technology services. Bob founded and built VISANOW.com, the leading provider of online global immigration application services into a 200-employee company and leader in immigration law with annual revenues exceeding $20MM. In 2017, Bob launched and grew the Lawyer Exchange, a peer-to-peer freelance lawyer platform, connecting lawyers with lawyers and creating a community of legal support throughout the United States. Membership grew to 5,500 lawyers in less than 5 years.

His background as a legal tech entrepreneur and law partner building successful legal practices has given him the full scope of executive leadership, operational management, and business development skills in marketing, sales, production, human resources for the legal profession.

Reid Trautz is the founding director of the AILA Practice & Professionalism Center, where he helps lawyers solve their most pressing business issues and grow their practices. He is a nationally recognized advisor, author, and presenter on practice issues, including launching a law practice, business process innovation, law practice technology, and legal ethics. Over the past several years his work focuses primarily on creating a preferred future of practicing immigration law.

Reid is co-author of the book The Busy Lawyer's Guide to Success: Essential Tips to Power Your Practice, published by the ABA, and co-Editor-in-Chief of the AILA Practice & Professionalism Toolbox. He is a past chair of ABA TECHSHOW, the legal profession’s premier technology conference, and is an elected Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management. In 2012, he was honored in the sophomore class of the Fastcase 50, recognizing innovators in legal technology. He is also a member of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers.

Charity Anastasio is the Practice and Ethics Counsel for AILA’s Practice & Professionalism Center. She brings transformative energy and inspiration to AILA members on ethics and practice management issues by using one-on-one consultations, publications, presentations, and collaboration with AILA’s Ethics Committee, Lawyer Well-Being Committee, Tech and Innovation Committee, and Practice committees and interest groups. She has consulted with hundreds of lawyers on their business and professional quandaries, giving practical, candid advice to each one.
