The best law firms have a plan and know where they are headed. They have vision, direction, and the people, tools, and resources to get them there. Much of that comes from planning and education that occurs at meaningful firm retreats.

AILA is pleased to offer tailored law firm retreats to members, organized and led by AILA’s Practice & Professionalism Center. These one- or two-day events (at the site of your choosing) can help your firm focus on the specific obstacles you face, and significantly improve the overall trajectory of your firm.

Whether a partner retreat, lawyer retreat, or all staff retreat, we design a program to fit your needs. Our retreat facilitators have decades of experience helping law firms resolve their most pressing management issues and planning for their future. They are seasoned educators and facilitators who know immigration firms and the immigration marketplace. Your retreat will strike the right balance of information, problem-solving, planning, and fun.

If your firm is seeking a more intentional, positive, professional, and profitable working environment that fits your personal and professional goals, schedule a custom retreat with one of our expert practice management facilitators.

How much is a retreat?

A customized retreat specific to your firm’s issues is $4,500 for up to eight attendees, plus travel and lodging expenses to be billed after the retreat. Additional attendees are $500 per attendee. Retreats can be for partners only, all firm lawyers, or all staff—it is up to you.

Do I get to choose the topics to be covered?

Yes, always. We offer retreats on setting fees, reviewing and using key performance indicators, management skills, creating a marketing plan, succession planning, and culture fixes. You can pick one of these and we will target specific firm issues, or tell us what you need a retreat on and we will develop it.

What is included in the retreat services?

Our facilitator will work with you to plan the substantive retreat program. Any other activities such as meals, recreational events, or similar events not related to the program will not be planned or provided. However, we can work in conjunction to conveniently schedule all activities into a cohesive event.

What is not covered?

The cost of the location, food/beverage, audio visual equipment or similar expenses are the responsibility of the firm. If the facilitator needs any supplies for any planned retreat activities, he or she will seek your prior approval.

What are the estimated travel and lodging expenses for the facilitator?

The facilitators are located in the Washington, DC area, and based on their travel experience estimate air travel, two nights of hotel and meals to range from $1,000 to $2,000. Actual receipts will be provided for reimbursement within 30 days of the retreat.
