2016 AILA Advanced Business and Removal Issues Conference

NY Conference

The practice of immigration law has become increasingly challenging and complex. This is due, in part, to the actions of the many government agencies tasked with immigration-related responsibilities. The number of entities involved, the often-distinct goals of each, and the lack of sufficient interagency communication, has led to inefficiencies plaguing the system, such as delayed processing times, inconsistent interpretation and execution of laws and policies, and unwarranted requests and denials. As attorneys, we are routinely called upon to navigate through this frustrating and complicated muddle and provide competent, effective advice, even when the laws and regulations do not offer as precise a solution as they should. The multi-disciplinary, advanced-level sessions at the AILA Advanced Business and Removal Issues Conference will provide tips and strategies on doing just this, and doing it successfully, even when the answer remains ambiguous or is subject to conflicting agency interpretation.

Please note: the following message impacts only attendees seeking CLE credit in NY state. Attendees claiming CLE credit in all other jurisdictions must use webCLE to report attendance by October 17, 2016.

Attention attendees seeking CLE credit in NY for the 2016 AILA Advanced Business and Removal Issues Conference:

AILA National has applied for Continuing Legal Education credits with the New York State CLE Board ("NY CLE Board"). The NY CLE Board has recently indicated that they require at least an additional three to four weeks to process this application for accreditation. If approved by the NY CLE Board, AILA National will email out New York CLE Certificate of Attendance forms to attendees as soon as possible.

Also note that in order to receive credit for each session you attend, the NY CLE Board requires that attorneys sign in and sign out on the attendance sheets provided at each session of the conference. Attorneys that do not sign in and out on these sheets will not be eligible to receive CLE credit for that session if granted. The NY CLE Board will not accept webCLE reporting; thus, do not record your attendance via webCLE.

AILA National is working with the NY CLE Board to try to expedite this process and will inform NY credit seekers of any changes. Further instructions regarding this process and any updates will be provided at the conference. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
AILA has filed for MCLE and specialized credit in appropriate jurisdictions. To receive CLE credit, attorneys must record session attendance and the CLE codes provided via webCLE. Eligible participants can receive up to 16 CLE credits in 50 minute jurisdictions and up to 13 credits in 60 minute jurisdictions.

Please note that your jurisdiction may limit the number of OnDemand credits that may be applied in a compliance period and may also limit OnDemand credits based on the date of the original presentation. Please view the OnDemand Expiration Chart for more details.

Not eligible for CLE credit in the following states: IA, PR, and TN.
