Maria T. Baldini-Potermin founded Maria Baldini-Potermin & Associates, P.C. in Chicago. She focuses on removal defense, federal litigation, waivers, family-based immigration, and immigration consequences of criminal dispositions. She is the author of Immigration Trial Handbook, update editor for Immigration Law and Crimes, and expert author-consultant for Interpreter Releases. AILA awards include: the 2013 AILA Presidential Commendation, the 2010 Edith Lowenstein Award for Excellence in Advancing the Practice of Immigration Law, and the 2004 Chicago Joseph Minsky Mentor Award. Maria has served on and chaired numerous AILA committees. She currently chairs the AILA Federal Court Litigation Section Steering Committee. John Ayala, Burbank, CA
John Ayala represents individuals in immigration matters before immigration courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the Southern and Central U.S. District Courts in California. Mr. Ayala was the 2007–2008 chair of the AILA Southern California Chapter and helped organize the Southern California Raid Response Network to provide immediate aid to victims of mass employment raids. Mr. Ayala was a member of the AILA EOIR Liaison Committee from 2008–2010, working with EOIR to implement ideas and solution to improve procedures before immigration courts throughout the United States and the Board of Immigration Appeals. Mr. Ayala was rated a “Super Lawyer” by superlawyers.com from 2005–2013.


Susan Waller Ramos, Asheville, NC
Susan Waller Ramos is the founder of Ramos Law Firm, P.C. in Asheville, NC. She is a graduate of Emory University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and Spanish, and St. Mary’s University School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in Texas, North Carolina, and New Mexico (currently inactive), and has practiced immigration law since 2003.
