Dan H. Berger, a graduate of Harvard College and Cornell Law School, has written numerous articles on immigration law, and frequently speaks at colleges and universities. He won the 1995 AILA annual writing competition for an article on legacy INS policy toward international adoptions. Mr. Berger has been a senior editor of the AILA Immigration & Nationality Law Handbook (renamed Immigration Practice Pointers) since 2000. He was an author/editor of the revised National Association of Foreign Student Advisors Manual (2000), and editor-in-chief of Immigration Options for Academics and Researchers (AILA 2005). He is currently chair of the AILA Board of Publications and is a member of the AILA Business Litigation Committee.

Rita Sostrin is a partner at Sostrin Immigration Lawyers, LLP in Los Angeles. Ms. Sostrin focuses her practice on immigration of individuals of extraordinary abilities as well as international academics. Throughout her professional career, Ms. Sostrin has represented a diverse array of clients across the United States and abroad, handling all aspects of employment-based immigration for leading academic institutions, hospitals, and scientific laboratories. She frequently receives invitations to speak at national and regional conferences and write for legal publications. Ms. Sostrin is included in The International Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers and Chambers USA. In 2008, she received the AILA Presidential Award. She currently serves as a senior editor of Immigration Practice Pointers, (AILA 2011–12) and chair of the AILA/California Service Center Liaison Committee.
