Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

After careful consideration and comprehensive evaluation of recent developments related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), AILA has made the decision to postpone the 2020 AILA Annual Conference and 2020 AILA/GMS Annual Global Immigration Forum, originally scheduled to be held in June in San Diego.

We want to thank the entire AILA community for your patience and support as we continue to explore all available options. We hope to reschedule the conferences in the Fall of 2020 and are working with the venues to determine alternative arrangements and dates. Please note that due to the current circumstances, the portions of the Annual Conference related to AILA governance, including the Annual Membership meeting on June 18, 2020, will need to take place virtually as originally scheduled to announce the AILA elections results and provide the standard fiscal, membership, and committee reports that are presented at our Annual Meeting. AILA will continue to follow the normal elections process and timeline. All nominees and candidates for office will receive a follow-up communication confirming these details later this week.

We will have more concrete information related to alternative arrangements shortly and will notify participants as soon as these arrangements have been finalized. All registered attendees are eligible for a full refund. Detailed information regarding registration refund options and future meeting logistics will be posted as soon as they are finalized.

We understand that this is a disappointing development for all who have invested valuable time and resources into making these conferences a success; however, we remain committed to making the critical information and resources that these conferences provide to our community available in the best way we can under the circumstances. We extend our profound thanks to the planning committees and the AILA community for their understanding and dedication to AILA during this challenging time. We will stay in communication via email and will post notices on the conference websites as we continue to explore all options to protect the health and safety of the AILA community.

Our thoughts and support are with you and everyone impacted by this global health crisis.
