Our panel of experts will provide an overview of options for, and discuss recent challenges associated with, obtaining nonimmigrant (NIV) and immigrant (IV) visas for athletes, coaches, and trainers. The speakers will present on key areas, including who are considered athletes or essential support personnel, who can serve as a sponsor, presenting evidence, and recent trends in adjudications under the current administration.

Catherine L. Haight (DL), Marina del Rey, CA
Catherine L. Haight is the founding member of Haight Law Group, PC in Marina del Rey, California. She has been practicing immigration law since 1989, specializing in business, entertainment, and sports related matters. Ms. Haight obtained her Bachelor’s degree from U.C. Berkeley and J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law. She was the founding Chair of the AILA ACES Committee and currently serves on the AILA Department of Labor Liaison Committee. Ms. Haight has authored many published articles on immigration subjects and has been an invited speaker at numerous immigration law conferences and seminars.
Donald L. Mooers Jr., Silver Spring, MD
Don L. Mooers is the founder of Mooers Immigration. Mr. Mooers received his J.D. from George Washington University and his B.A. from Duke University. He also serves as a Lecturer in Immigration Law at the Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law.
Ksenia A. Maiorova, Orlando, FL
Ksenia A. Maiorova received her Juris Doctor degree from the Berkeley School of Law in 2007. She is the Managing Partner of Maiorova Law Group, PLLC, where she focuses her practice on immigration solutions for professional athletes and other sports industry professionals, as well as provides consulting services to attorneys. In 2018, she founded the Facebook group “Sports Immigration Lawyers,” a community of extraordinary ability practitioners dedicated to sharing knowledge regarding the unique issues that arise in sports immigration practice. With the support of the AILA Central Florida Chapter, she organized the nation’s first Sports Immigration Law Conference, which took place on March 8, 2019 in Orlando, FL. She has been featured as a subject matter expert in national and international media. Ksenia is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, is rated Superb (10/10) by Avvo, and has been recognized as one of the Best Immigration Attorneys in Orlando by Expertise.com. She is a member of the Board of Directors and the Chair of the Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee at AILA’s Central Florida Chapter.

The Athletes, Coaches, and Trainers: NIVs and IVs web seminar takes place Thursday, October 31, 2019, at the times noted below:
- 2:00 pm–3:30 pm eastern time
- 1:00 pm–2:30 pm central time
- 12:00 pm–1:30 pm mountain time
- 11:00 am–12:30 pm pacific time
