Employment-Based Green Card Applications: Considerations and Strategies

Our panel of experts will discuss relevant issues for employment-based I-485 applications. They will address strategies to implement in the event there is a change of corporate structure. They also will provide guidance on considerations that need to be made in the event there is a change in the job that was offered to the applicant. Likewise, they will advise on best practices for, and alternatives to, filing adjustment applications when clients have a constant need to travel abroad. Lastly, they will provide insight on how to prepare applicants who have an ownership interest in the petitioning company, and how to prepare derivative applicants for the adjustment interview.

William Coffman (DL), Boston, MA
William Coffman serves as Special Counsel at Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. in Boston, MA. His legal work focuses on immigration and nationality law and related international law. He regularly represents clients in immigration matters before the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Department of Labor, as well as before US and foreign consulates. He received his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1996 where he served on the editorial board of the Houston Journal of International Law. He has been named to Best Lawyers in America: Immigration Law (2013 – 2020) and International Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers (2016-2019).

Alan Goldfarb is a partner with Davis & Goldfarb, PLLC in Minneapolis, MN. He is past chair and current member of the AILA National Ethics Committee, and he previously served as chair of the Minnesota/Dakotas AILA Chapter, and the Immigration Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association.

Kristen Ng is a Shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Northern Virginia office. She focuses her practice on business immigration and compliance matters, including legislative issues and I-9 matters. Ms. Ng received her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law and her Ph.D. from The State University of New York at Buffalo.

- 2:00 pm–3:30 pm eastern time
- 1:00 pm–2:30 pm central time
- 12:00 pm–1:30 pm mountain time
- 11:00 am–12:30 pm pacific time
