The Intersection of Export Control Regulations & Immigration Law

This 90 minute web seminar was recorded live on May 13, 2014, from 2:00 pm-3:30 pm eastern time.

Export control laws have become intertwined with immigration laws and processes in recent years. Immigration attorneys should be aware of the basic issues of export control laws in order to assist their corporate clients in understanding the violations of U.S. export control laws that can subject companies to severe sanctions, as well as subject their foreign national employees to grounds of inadmissibility and deportability. This seminar provides an overview of the U.S. Department of Commerce's export control regulations, as well as information on how to assist with the determination of whether an export license is required.

  • What Are Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)?
  • Is an Export License Required Under EAR and ITAR?
  • What Happens Now That You Have Determined That an Export Control License Is Required?
  • Practice Tips and Key Considerations for Completing I-129, Part 6
  • When to Seek Counsel From an Export Control Lawyer
  • Criminal and Civil Penalties for Violations
  • Inadmissibility/Deportability Grounds for Violations
