Terminating the Attorney-Client Relationship
This special CLE podcast features AILA Past President Bob Juceam (New York, NY), along with members Doug Hauer (Boston, MA) and Cyrus Mehta (New York, NY). The panel discusses terminating the attorney-client relationship during immigration proceedings. The attorney not only must follow the Model Rules, as well as state and local rules, but he or she also bears the burden of proof that he or she could not continue to represent the client. Topics will include how the standards differ between the various agencies and the stage of the case, how to avoid malpractice claims, who owns the file, who owns the funds, and what can you say or withhold in the Motion to Withdraw.
CLE credit is available in most jurisdictions for this podcast. Please view the CLE status sheet for more details.
