The author, Regina Germain, is a veteran asylum attorney and former Senior Legal Counselor of the Washington Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. She has taught asylum law and practice at the Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Denver College of Law. She is currently the Legal Director of the Rocky Mountain Survivors Center in Denver, Colorado. She has also worked as an attorney for the Central American Refugee Center in Houston, Texas, and the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project in Florence, Arizona. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and holds an LL.M. in Advocacy from the Georgetown University Law Center.
