2014 AILA Federal Court Immigration Litigation CLE PracticumThis conference was presented live on February 28, 2014 in Las Vegas, NV. View the complete conference program.
This intermediate to advanced level, one-day conference provides participants with the tools they need to litigate immigration issues in the federal courts. The program begins with the Introduction to Federal Litigation 101 session, an overview of immigration litigation for newer litigators, and then moves on to more advanced level programming. Participants learn how to spot issues that can be addressed in federal court and walk through different types of federal court actions. The faculty provides practical tips, creative techniques, and uses real-life scenarios to teach participants how to address complex issues that immigration lawyers are likely to encounter in federal court.
All conference attendees receive Litigating Immigration Cases in Federal Court, 3rd Ed., which provides expert analysis, strategies, and advice for filing immigration lawsuits in federal court. It covers topics such as:
- When and Where to File
- Avoiding Dismissal on Jurisdictional Grounds
- "Chevron Deference" and Principles of Retroactivity
- Distinction Between Claim Processing and Jurisdictional Rules
